A Quick Review Of The 9 Campsites We Have Visited!
Already planning for a camping trip after MCO is lifted but don't know where to go? Well, let us share with you the 8 campsites that we have been to!
Along with that, we will be highlighting a few things that we like or dislike about each campsite. Read on to find out more!
1. Sungai Congkak Recreational Forest, Hulu Langat
Ahh...this campsite brings back memories! This is actually where the idea of starting YAKA Camping Club happened. To be honest, this campsite doesn't have the best facilities but it's still one of our favourites and here's why. It has 6 camping zones located along the river and our favourite was Zone 6 as it is located deepest in the jungle and have less to no crowd. But do note that, there's no toilet available at Zone 6.
Depending on which zone you prefer, campers can do both tent or hammock camping. When camping here, you'll find yourself surrounded by lush greenery with a therapeutic backdrop sound of the river flowing while you enjoy the fresh air.

2. H&n Campsite, Port Dickson
On our second trip, we were feeling adventurous and decided to try camping by the beach. And that's when we found this campsite located in Port Dickson. The campsite is located on a piece of land that extends out to the sea, and during high tide, the water level can easily reach up to an adult’s shoulder height.Hence, many campers took the opportunity to fish, including us. The only downside to this campsite was, it’s close to a busy road. But if you put that aside, this campsite is definitely worth a try!
One more thing, due to the strong wind you might want to invest a little more time securing your tent and flysheet. Pro-tip, bring special pegs that are meant for beach camping.

3. Benus Valley, Janda Baik
And one of the best features of this campsite is that we can set up our tent next to the river. On top of that, the owner, Kak Lynn, was very attentive and accomodating in ensuring we have the best experience possible.
Not to mention, the weather here is surprisingly cooling throughout the day, and it can be quite cold during the night.

4. Draco Nature Campsite, Chenderiang
To reach the campsite, it took us about 1h 45mins of driving from Petaling Jaya to Chenderiang, Perak. Getting to the campsite itself will require some off-roading, but nothing a sedan car can’t take. So our advice is to just drive slow, and you’ll be fine.

5. Teratak Riverview, Tanjung Malim
Although it can be quite hot and, depending on the time of day, lots of mosquitoes. We didn’t mind it at all. Anytime you feel hot, just jump in the river and let the ice-cold water flow through your body! Shiok!
And we were super lucky, to have camp during the durian season because the owner treated us to some. Again...shiok!

6. I SKOVEN, Hulu Yam
The campsite itself is very well managed and is surrounded by lush greenery.
As the campsite is pretty big, you can basically choose anywhere you'll like to set up camp. For more information, be sure to check out I SKOVEN website to find out more about the camping package they currently offer.

7. YAKA Campsite, Broga
As the name suggested, this is a campsite managed by us at YAKA and we are so happy to have hosted so many campers here. We can't wait for MCO to be over and to reopen our campsite to all of you!
Regarding the campsite, it has a multi-level hilltop ground which provides campers with an amazing view of the sunrise and sunset with a constant cool breeze.
The facilities here include clean toilets, shower rooms, a communal area, a shared fridge and you could also visit the animal farm but it requires a small fee as it's not managed by us.

8. GG Retreat, Serendah
A huge campsite with tons of activities to do like fishing, ATV rides, guided hikes and rafting. Do not that, most of these activities do require pre-booking and additional fees. So, be sure to inform the campsite during booking.
Although there were many activities, we prefer to just chill, have pointless conversations and just hang out in the river. In my opinion, I think we had too much fun here building a campfire, cooking over the open fire, swimming at night, meditating at the river and more! Shiok!
9. Hygge Walker Basecamp, Genting Highlands
This is a very cool campsite that we are lucky enough to be invited to camp at. Unfortunately, as of our knowledge, the campsite is currently close to the public, and we are not sure when it will be open. This campsite is different from all our previous experiences, as it was our first time camping in such cold weather using only our hammock set up. It was freezing cold although we already have 3 layers of clothes on plus our sleeping bag.
On top of that, a few wild boars were running around the campsite and at times, we can hear them really close to us while we were in our hammock. It was quite scary, but we really enjoyed camping here!
And that's all for this blog guys! If you wish to keep up to date on where we will be camping next be sure to follow us on Instagram @yakacampingclub.
